SPFNO for Girls and Boys
The prestigious annual Susan Polgar National Open Championship for Girls and Boys (SPFNO) was created in 2006 and is sponsored by the Susan Polgar Foundation (SPF) to give more opportunities to young chess players in the United States.
Prizes include $100,000 in Scholarships to Webster University! The top-scoring player in each 2-day Championship section (Girls sections only) in the SPFNO will earn qualification for the prominent Susan Polgar National Invitational for Girls.

To this extent, we will be following the Center of Disease Control (CDC) and local health department guidelines in order to reduce the spread of Novel Coronavirus, or COVID-19. All players and guardians must agree to the terms detailed in our Health/Safety Form prior to participation in all SPFNO events. Masks are mandatory for all players and spectators at all times.

TIME CONTROL: G/60; d5. Game in 60 minutes with a 5-second delay.
RATING: Dual NWSRS and US Chess Rated.
ROUND TIMES: Saturday 10/2 & Sunday 10/3 @ 9:30AM, 12PM, 2:30PM.
PRIZES: Trophies awarded to the top-scoring individuals in each section. Prizes include $100,000 in Scholarships to Webster University!

Open to all students registered in grades K-12. Grade is based on 2021-2022 school year. Registration deadline Friday Oct 1 @ 5pm. Unpaid players not checked in by 8:45am will receive a zero-point bye for any missed rounds. Trophies for top-scoring individuals and teams. Higher of October 1st US Chess or NWSRS rating will be used to determine section and pairings.
